The Venue
Being located on Main Street Philadelphia, you would think the Manayunk Brewing Company was downtown Philly...but that's not how Philadelphia works. Manayunk Brewing Company offers a cool mix of industrial chic and street style.
My Takeaway
I love the vibe and the juxtaposition in industrial chic for wedding photography is right up my alley.
The venue doesn't have a formal groom's lounge but if the guys are getting ready at another location or you don't need my of that covered, then its no big deal and the venue should work nicely for you.
Depending on the weather or time of year, you have the option of having the ceremony outside on the deck or inside where the reception will be. In my opinion, I think inside is the better option aesthetically.
There are some cool locations for photos but they are not always obvious. And depending on the time of year/day the sunlight could be really harsh. Along the canal was difficult but I think we managed to find some color and make it work. Other cool locations are as simple as out on the sidewalk or walking down the street. Manayunk Brewing Company is not your average venue and sometimes is just best to embrace the obvious...because that's what special. If you have the time, there are some cool murals in Manayunk if you know where to look.
My Favorite Parts
As I said earlier, I love juxtaposition and the pictures where this is evident (ie. dress on the steel door, flower on the black concrete, the steel door with painted wings). And the venue doesn't 'put on airs' and they do what they do well. It is what it is and either it works for you or it doesn't. I love it and think you will too.
