Tyler Arboretum Wedding Photographer | Nature-Filled Wedding in Philadelphia Suburbs
Tyler Arboretum Wedding Venue Overview
If you’re dreaming of a nature-filled, out door wedding venue in the Philadelphia suburbs, a Tyler Arboretum wedding offers one of the most peaceful and visually stunning settings in the area. Located about 30 minutes from Philadelphia, this venue blends historic charm with 650 acres of rolling meadows, woodlands, gardens and barns—creating a backdrop that feels both intentional and completely effortless. As a Philadelphia wedding photographer, Tyler Arboretum weddings are some of my favorites without a doubt!
Getting Ready at Inn at Swarthmore
The day began slowly, surrounded by friends, family and mimosas. Our hotel for morning prep and makeup was the quaint Inn at Swarthmore in the suburbs just outside Philadelphia. For this wedding it made logistical sense to do our first look here so I found a shady spot outside where the bride and groom could have a private moment together. The grooms reaction was worth the effort. https://innatswarthmore.com
Tyler Arboretum Wedding Ceremony Locations
One of the biggest advantages of a Tyler Arboretum wedding is the variety of photo locations all within walking distance. From wildflower meadows to wooded trails and historic structures, every direction offers something different. The property’s 650 acres provide endless opportunities for portraits that feel organic and unforced. And with so many tucked-away corners and scenic paths, the entire morning feels grounded in nature. It’s the kind of setting that naturally sets the tone for a relaxed and meaningful wedding day.https://tylerarboretum.org/weddings/.
Ceremonies at Tyler Arboretum are often held among towering trees, seasonal blooms, and open green spaces. While beautiful to the eye, on a sunny day some locations can be challenging as those walking down the aisle may move in and out of the sun which doesn’t always allow for the right expression (faces up and smiling) at the right time (in the sun or shade depending on what we are exposing for). Also a some wider shots may look awkwardly exposed as the bride and groom are in shade while their guest are in the sun. So just keep this in mind as you pick your ceremony location on the grounds as there are other options. https://www.wedding-spot.com/venue/11697/tyler-arboretum/
Dinner is tented and reception is either in an adjoining lower room or on the main floor of the barn. I think the choice is probably dependent upon the size of the guest list and what feels comfortable, but my preference is for the main floor as the ‘barn look’ is appealing to me. https://www.zola.com/wedding-vendors/wedding-venues/tyler-arboretum?utm_source=chatgpt.com
This Tyler Arboretum Wedding Photographers Favorite Parts
There are some weddings that feel personal before the day even begins. I had met Grace twice before as a bridesmaid, and somewhere between those earlier celebrations and this late-summer afternoon, a comfortable familiarity had taken root. Seeing her again didn’t feel like meeting a client; it felt like reconnecting with an old friend after life had simply kept us a little too busy. What makes a Tyler Arboretum wedding stand out is how little needs to be added. The setting itself—woodlands, gardens, and historic architecture—creates a day that feels both elevated and grounded at the same time.
